As the dust settles on 2018, the technology behind blockchain will emerge on more solid footing into 2019. There may have been some hype in its early days, but blockchain is now being considered one of the more successful approaches to easing the security worries around the Internet of Things. Considering 2019 expects to see more than 26 billion IoT connected devices, IT leaders are desperate to find the means by which to secure environments against the threat of a breach via a connected device. In fact, in 2018 the use of blockchain technology to secure IoT devices doubled in 2018, and with an uptick in machine-to-machine communications expected, blockchain will be used more to log and monitor these transactions with which human managers couldn’t possibly keep pace.
